From 0 to 1600 Instagram Followers in a Month with 3 Easy Steps

   

     In the last month since starting my Instagram account for this blog I've already gotten multiple offers from different companies asking me to share their products on my Instagram feed (@basicallythis). It has taken a lot of work and dedication, I've basically become obsessed with it for the last month. So I'm going to share with you some simple tips to get more action on your feed.

1) Tags!

     Tagging your photos is the most important step in getting more followers. Tags allow your photo to show up when someone searches that term, so make sure you are using relevant tags on all your photos. If you haven't been go back and add tags to the comments of all of your photo. These photos will get more likes and bring more eyes to your feed. Since most of my insta pics pertain to fashion there are about 15 tags I put on EVERY photo, then depending on the individual photo I will add  more specific tags. Make sure you are tagging an entire phrase verse just each word of a phrase i.e. #thebestpic not #the #best #pic.

2) Follow people in your niche 

     Following other people is one of the best ways to get more followers because people are more likely to follow back. Not every single person you follow will follow back so try and search fro users whose feed you like so you know you will engage with them. If you follow someone then like and comment on their pics on a regular basis they are more likely to follow back and that's easy to do if you actually enjoy their content. I know we all want to look cool and have a million followers while only following 100 people but lets be honest getting people to engage in your content especially if you use it to promote another platform you have, like a blog, sacrificing looking cool will help you in the long run.

3) Post quality content on a regular basis

     This is also very important. I personally try to post a photo everyday. Not only does this drive views to my blog it makes sure my followers stay engaged and know I'm here for the long haul. Try not to take photos from places like Tumblr or Pintrest because "technically" its not allowed. Use your own photos and make sure they are the best they can be. Be mindful of what you post if you plan on taking Instagramming seriously. Basically don't post crap. PS. Posting too often, like 10 times a day, is a big no no. Keep it to a max of 3 a day (morning, noon, & night).


      So these are the steps I took to go from 0 to over 1600 followers in a month. Not very hard, you just have to be persistent and stay dedicated!
